Topic:      Unclaimed Property Compliance Challenges in Today’s Environment

Summary:  The 2016 Uniform Unclaimed Property Act and the increasing use of payroll cards, flexible spending and health savings accounts have triggered dramatic change in the unclaimed property compliance requirements related to employee compensation.  Anticipating shifting state requirements and potentially costly pitfalls is key to managing a business’ unclaimed property risk.  To assist businesses evaluating their compliance efforts, this presentation includes:

  • A description of the basic unclaimed property due diligence and reporting requirements
  • An overview of  unclaimed property audits and voluntary disclosure programs and;
  • A summary of the significant legislative and regulatory trends

 

Correspondingly, the discussion will focus on suggestions for realigning policies, procedures and processes that may assist businesses in better managing unclaimed property risk through enhancement of their compliance programs.
